YouTube recommends 2560×1440 with a 2048×1152 (16:9) minimum and a 6MB file cap. The same upload is cropped very differently per device, which is why the tiny official safe area matters more than the full canvas.
Safe area: Only the central 1235×338 area is visible on every device — keep all text and logos inside it. TVs see the full image; phones see a narrow strip.
